As I recap the past week, I look at how I feel about the quality of work I have completed and what sort of impact I’ve made on the client’s experience once the work has been completed.
I have completed work for several voice-over clients to a standard they were very pleased with, something that’s not easy to do sometimes when people want the sound of someone they’ve heard on TV/film. Working together is a process, and I have enjoyed that experience this past week. I have had time and room to ask the client questions to figure out what they are NOT saying alongside what they ARE saying. I love the process and creativity of voice-over work. www.simonsezvo.com
I go above and beyond in every job I work on. It’s important to me. It’s an old-fashioned sense of responsibility when offering a quality product. But, again, something that’s not easily done in a fast-paced world with people who don’t know what they want until they hear or see it but want it yesterday.
I have been performing for 30 years and hope to continue in some way before my time is up. Voice-over allows me to control my time to fit in other things like helping family and friends as needed. Walking the dog and not feeling like I should ‘doing something else.’
The flexibility of voice-over also allows me to work in the funeral industry as a celebrant (www.volaretime.com).
To some degree, this new venture allows me to help serve and support families at one of the most challenging times in their lives. Whether it be a straightforward honouring of someone’s passing to something a little more fun and more of a celebration of life, it’s a passion of work that I don’t take lightly. It’s an honour. It’s a good way to serve people.
Six ceremonies this past week is a large amount of work. So many dates, names and times are still floating around in my head. But, hearing about people’s connections and reading what they have written about their loved ones is fantastic. It has shown me how much can be packed into life as long as the foundation of life is balanced and solid.
We all know that life has many a challenge from the first day to the last, for the most part.
Once I understood that there was no going backwards and the way forward was of my choosing, I was able to start formatting my foundation to be more balanced and solid, although this has been years in the making. I now get to begin fine-tuning the choices I have made over the many years travelled, and I love this process as much as I did
making choices along the way.
Now I will work smarter, not harder. I will let go of the failures in the past but take the lesson with me. I will allow myself the time to understand what I’m NOT saying alongside what I AM saying.
I wish the same for you.
